We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Financial Reporting Accountant to help shape the future of financial decision-making across our programmes and projects. Role Overview
As our new Financial Reporting Accountant, you will lead the development and application of innovative financial models, provide expert advice to senior leadership, and support budgeting, statutory accounts, and investment planning. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant with a strategic mindset and strong analytical skills, looking to make a tangible impact in public sector finance.
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Reporting & Modelling: Develop and lead financial modelling tools to support strategic decision-making and assess return on investment for major programmes.
* Budgeting & Planning: Collaborate with budget holders to develop robust 3-year budget plans and support annual budget setting processes.
* Audit & Compliance: Deliver high-quality statutory accounts and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
* Project Finance: Lead financial control for programmes and challenge assumptions using data-driven insights.
* Data & Systems: Collaborate with the MI team to build new reporting tools and automate financial processes.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Present complex financial information clearly to senior stakeholders, including the Senior Leadership Team.
* Leadership & Support: Deputise for senior finance colleagues and support internal capacity building.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking a strategic, solutions-focused finance professional with a strong background in financial reporting, modelling, and public sector accounting. You'll be confident in simplifying complex data for non-finance audiences and thrive in a role where your insights directly inform high-level decisions.
Essential Skills & Experience
* CCAB qualified accountant (or qualified by experience).
* Significant experience in financial modelling, budgeting, and reporting in a complex organisation.
* Track record of delivering statutory accounts and supporting audits.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
* Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills.
* Understanding of public sector finance and governance (desirable).
* Experience of driving improvements and achieving cost efficiencies through smarter reporting.
