We have one Band 4 Urology Cancer Pathway Navigator position that we intend to fill for early autumn. To track and navigate patients through the urology cancer pathways – both diagnostic and surveillance – for prostate and bladder patients.
To provide a comprehensive and efficient administrative service to the clinical team members of the urology cancer pathways (including cancer McMillan nurses). The post will work closely with the clinical triage teams for the urology cancer pathways, key stakeholders from other services and liaise with other hospitals. The role will identify capacity issues, escalating them in a timely manner, and respond to patient enquiries.

Main duties
* Act as main point of administrative support and contact for the urology cancer triage clinical teams, liaising with them day‑to‑day and prioritising own workload.
* Track and navigate patients through the urology cancer pathways, completing relevant database input throughout the process.
* Serve as point of contact for patients referred via their GP to the urology cancer services.
* Coordinate and organise appointments and assessments with patients, exchanging information clearly and concisely, and dealing with anxiety, cultural and language difficulties.
Person specification
Education and qualifications
* Educated to A level or BTEC/GNVQ level – or relevant job experience.
* Experience as an NHS Administrator.
* Good IT literacy.
Knowledge
* Working knowledge of hospital and computer systems (Patient Centre, Infoflex).
* Knowledge of CRIS and urology cancer pathways.
* Knowledge of NHS Cancer Waiting Times.
Experience
* Previous NHS administration.
* Working in or with cancer MDT teams.
* Proven experience of working to deadlines and targets.
* Experience of communicating complex instructions with sensitivity to patients and relatives.
* Working in a changing environment.
