The North and South Durham Liaison Psychiatry teams are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and confident Clinical Specialist Nurse for substance misuse to join our diverse and friendly team. This role covers both Durham and Darlington teams, requiring the postholder to travel independently.
In this role, you will provide clinical leadership to colleagues, participate in service development, and coordinate assessment, treatment, and management of older adults accessing the service. The Clinical Specialist Nurse will also offer advice and consultation to colleagues and other agencies regarding client management.
We seek a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in improving care and treatment for older persons. We are proactive in developing innovative ways of working, considering the voices of service users and their families to improve service delivery.

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Nurse with a Non-Medical Prescriber qualification.
The successful candidate will work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, providing clinical leadership within the team and supporting team members alongside the Team Manager.
You will be part of a resilient, professional team working collaboratively with internal and external partners to support individuals experiencing deteriorating mental health and their families or carers. Our approach is recovery-oriented, formulation-driven, and values shared decision-making.
Strong teamwork, networking, and partnership skills across various agencies are essential.
You should demonstrate strong clinical leadership, coaching skills, sound knowledge of mental health care, complex risk assessment, safeguarding, and its practical application.
