Position Title: Site Supervisor – Materials Testing

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Site Supervisor to oversee field operations in construction materials testing, ensuring high standards of testing, safety, and client service are consistently delivered. This role involves the coordination and supervision of site technicians, monitoring project progress, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal quality procedures.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials testing (soil, aggregates, concrete, and blacktop), excellent organisational skills, and a hands-on leadership style.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of site technicians across multiple sites.
* Plan, schedule, and allocate resources to meet testing and project deadlines.
* Act as the primary point of contact for site clients, contractors, and project managers.
* Ensure all on-site testing (e.g. compaction, density, CBR, concrete sampling, blacktop coring) is carried out in line with UKAS standards and relevant test methods (e.g. BS, EN, ASTM).
* Conduct quality checks and review technician test reports for accuracy and compliance.
* Train and mentor junior technicians, supporting skills development and competency.
* Ensure all staff operate within health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
* Report site performance, incidents, and issues to management.
* Assist with equipment calibration, stock management, and fleet organisation.
Essential Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years of experience in construction materials testing, including site work.
* Previous supervisory or team lead experience.
* Strong understanding of UKAS quality systems and materials testing methods.
* Full UK driving licence (essential).
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Able to work flexibly, including occasional nights or weekends, as required.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and teams efficiently.
Desirable Qualifications:
* NVQ Level 3 or higher in Construction Materials Testing or related discipline.
* SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
* CSCS Card (Supervisor Level preferred).
* Familiarity with scheduling software and digital reporting tools.

Contract length: 6 months
Pay: £18.00-£24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
