Main duties of the job

Exciting Opportunity to Lead in Children's Public Health

Join our Universal Team as a key leader in delivering the Healthy Child Programme 5–19. Your role will be vital in coordinating and implementing impactful public health interventions across designated schools, under the guidance of the Team Leader.

What You’ll Do:

* Lead the delivery of health screenings, surveillance, and assessments
* Monitor immunisation status to ensure children are protected
* Support the health and wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people within your caseload
* Collaborate with schools and community partners to promote healthy development

Qualifications

* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (RN, RSCN)
* Family Planning/Sexual Health
* Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN SN pathway)


Knowledge, Training and experience

* Experience of working collaboratively across teams, agencies and organisational boundaries.
* Experience of working in the community with children, young people and their families
* Safeguarding of children and implementation of policy and procedures with evidence of training/updates
* Experience of working with vulnerable children
* Multidisciplinary/multiagency working
* Clinical supervision/preceptorship
* Experience of managing teams
* Working understanding of the Healthy Child Programme
* Knowledge and understanding of national and local current Public Health outcomes and inequalities
* Experience of managing staff following HR management procedures e.g experience in managing sickness
* Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN SN pathway)


Skills and Abilities

* Evidence of continuing professional development and reflective practice to improve own skills, practice, and subject knowledge
* Understand the potential effects of, and how to prepare and support children through, transitions and significant events in their lives
* Demonstrate leadership skills
* Has working knowledge of Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
* Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with children and young people and professionals about a wide variety of issues
* Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and without direct supervision
* Demonstrates ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to communicate unpleasant and highly sensitive information
* Takes responsibility for caseload
