Position Details

Position: Paraprofessional-Media Center (Part-Time, 27.5 Hours per week)

Location: Kraft Meadows Intermediate School

Reports To: Principal or Designee

Compensation: $15.78 per hour

Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year

Position Summary

Performs a wide variety of support services to facilitate the efficient operation of the library and sets daily priorities based on knowledge of the overall function of the library and performs work as required or assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Maintains the school’s collection of books for students and teachers; assists in overseeing and maintaining the computerized library circulation system; maintains media center inventory; checks books, magazines, by scanning barcodes; maintains the collection of books by replacing worn or damaged books and ordering replacements and new books.
2. Assists students and teachers in locating books in the media center and in verifying bibliographic information; creates electronic and traditional bulletin boards.
3. Maintains schedules for the Media Center and coordinates the use of these areas with other staff members for extra activities or events requiring the use of this space.
4. Greets students, students and visitors to the Media Center while maintaining a positive and professional attitude
5. Provides clerical support in the office when needed.
6. Performs other related duties as directed by the principal.

Employment Qualifications

7. EDUCATION: This position requires knowledge equivalent to that, which normally would be acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or Associate’s degree.
8. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one to three years of progressively more responsible or expansive experience in a public education setting is preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.
