Technician - Signalling Maintenance role at Network Rail. Location: Hither Green, GB.
Our Technicians provide the essential link between the Team Leader and the team, working outdoors in a team to support essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users. Responsibilities
* Carry out maintenance and faulting activities as part of a frontline team, outdoors in all conditions.
* Deputise for the Team Leader to develop management and operational skills.
* Work with signalling and telecoms equipment, including signals, level crossings, and points systems.
* Follow safe systems of work, maintain high safety standards, and challenge risks to ensure everyone returns home safely.
* Lead or support the team as required to deliver work safely and efficiently, ensuring the team has the right competencies.
* Record and report issues, participate in training to develop technical and non-technical skills, and progress toward future leadership roles.
Essential Criteria
* Experience of arranging and implementing safe systems of work
* Knowledge of organising and controlling safe and efficient work delivery
* Strong communication skills, both in person and written
* Knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting and renewal techniques
* Willing and able to work shifts in all weathers
* Meet the required benchmark for application screening questions
Skills and Qualifications
* Willingness to learn and develop transferable skills for a career in rail
* Relevant qualification preferred (NVQ Level 1 or 2 in the discipline or equivalent experience)
* Driving licence (category B) to drive Network Rail vehicles
Additional Information
* Shifts involve days, nights and weekends; outdoor work in all weathers
* Pre-employment checks include drug and alcohol testing and relevant medical assessments; BPSS checks may apply for external candidates
* Within a 60-minute commute of the location
* All offers are conditional upon satisfactory pre-employment checks
* Safe behaviour is a requirement of working for Network Rail
Salary and Benefits
Salary: £43,997 plus Location allowance. Network Rail benefits information available on request.
