Are you driven by the desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in our communities? As Street Outreach Worker, you’ll play a pivotal role in reducing rough sleeping and street-based anti-social behaviour in our area.
In this exciting and dynamic role you will focus on engaging with people who have a history of rough sleeping and substance misuse. You will have some experience of engaging with individuals with multiple and/or complex needs and demonstrate a determined approach to finding solutions. You'll be part of a busy, friendly team supporting those who are street homeless to get where they want to be and making a real difference in their lives.

About the role
* To locate, identify, engage and support individuals that are rough sleeping, or at risk of rough sleeping in the Brighton area.
* Working with rough sleepers to make positive changes in their life and move towards settled accommodation.
* Amplifying the voice of individuals we work with to express their strengths and needs
* To carry out shifts at all times of day and night in order to build positive relationships with rough sleepers and help them move towards their goals, including accommodation.
* Engaging with people experiencing rough sleeping and people involved in street-based activity
About you
* Experience of engaging and providing meaningful support to individuals with complex support needs
* Experience of recording relevant sensitive information in a timely manner
* Knowledge of at least one of the following issues around homelessness; the benefits system, substance misuse, mental or physical health, the criminal justice system, housing (Social and/or Private Rented).
* Some experience of supporting people who may be affected by homelessness, poor mental health and substance misuse.
* Knowledge of Safeguarding Procedures and their application
* Experience of working with people in crisis
* Able to manage individuals with challenging behaviours
* Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Excellent Interpersonal Skills / Ability to build rapport
* Able to work alone; adhering to local risk management policies
