Job Description
I am looking for a proactive and organised Transport Planner to join a busy logistics team. You'll be responsible for planning and coordinating the general haulage fleet (rigid & artic), ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant deliveries.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Create and manage efficient daily and weekly transport plans
* Assign jobs to drivers based on availability, legal hours, and vehicle suitability
* Keep drivers and customers informed with clear, timely communication
* Track deliveries using TMS and GPS, ensuring everything runs smoothly
* Tackle delays or issues head-on to keep operations on track
* Ensure all transport activities meet legal and compliance standards
What You Bring to the Role:
* Solid experience in transport or traffic planning (general haulage/logistics ideal)
* Strong understanding of UK transport laws and road networks
* Confident using TMS, route planning tools, and Microsoft Office
* Excellent communicator with a calm, problem-solving mindset
* Self-starter with ambition to grow and take initiative
* Flexible and reliable - willing to be on-call as part of a rota
Desirable:
* CPC in Transport Management
* Knowledge of FORS, DVSA compliance, and tachograph systems
