Business Development Manager – Water Infrastructure (Founding Role)

Location: Nottingham (1 day per month in the office)

Salary: £60k - £80k Basic (Negotiable based on experience) + attractive Commission + Profit Share + EV Company Car


The Opportunity: Be the "Founding Father/Mother" of our client's Water Division

Our client has spent 50 years becoming the UK leader in engineered support systems for the construction world. They are now officially entering the UK Water Industry, and they need an ambitious Hunter to lead the charge.

This isn’t just another sales job. You will be the first dedicated hire in their Water Division. You won’t just be selling; you will be building a legacy. If you prove the market, you won’t just be a BDM—you’ll be the person building and managing the entire division as they scale.


What will you actually be doing?

* Hunting: You’ll be the face of the company, opening doors with Water Authorities (Thames, Severn Trent, etc.), Tier 1 contractors, and Engineering Consultants.
* Solving Problems: You aren’t selling "parts." You are selling a smarter way to build. You’ll be pitching their unique system—the "Lego" of pipe supports—that eliminates on-site welding and saves contractors weeks of time.
* Securing Specifications: You’ll get their technical solutions written into project designs at the early stages, ensuring the company is the standard for the next AMP8 investment cycle.
* Building a Future: You will report directly to the Head of Sales with a clear mandate: Grow the sector, then hire your own team to help you run it.


Who are you?

You don’t need 20 years of experience, but you do need fire in your belly.

* Experience: 2–5 years of experience selling anything into the UK Water Authority Industry (Pumps, valves, telemetry, chemicals, or pipes—it doesn't matter, as long as you know how the industry buys).
* The Network: You already have a "book of contacts" or at least know your way around a Water Authority's procurement and engineering departments.
* The Mindset: You are a "Hunter." You love the thrill of a new business win and get excited by the idea of "owning" a market rather than just being a cog in a machine.
* Technical Curiosity: You can look at a technical drawing and understand how a modular support system would be safer and faster than traditional steel fabrication.
* The "Best of Both" worlds: The stability and backing of a 50-year-old market leader, but the speed and excitement of a "start-up" division.
