Job overview

We are looking for a Band 5 registered nurse to join our Continence Team in the Product Delivery Service.

The Product Delivery Service is a specialist team that assess and process referrals for continence products. The team work closely with the home delivery contract product supplier and the Home Delivery Transport Team.

The Product Delivery team assess, authorise and process product requests that are received via referrals from the Continence/Bladder & Bowel Service, Community Nursing Teams, Residential & Nursing Homes and other professionals.

Please note we can only accept applications from staff with existing community nursing teams.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will support the provision of high-quality bladder and bowel care for adults in Kent, mainly through the authorisations of products processes for the product delivery service/Kent continence service.

You will act as an advocate for patients with bladder and bowel dysfunction in a
person-centred approach to ensure care is delivered that meets NICE
guidance and standards, whilst working within local eligibility criteria and support the development of education initiatives that focus on improvement of
outcomes of people with bladder and bowel dysfunction for patients and their
families/carers

Additional Working Pattern: Full time/ part time / shared hours with community nursing covering M-F 0800-1700 – express wishes on application form

Person specification

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria

1. Registered Healthcare Professional with relevant Professional body (1st Level Nurse/ NMC or Physiotherapist; Occupational Therapist; etc / HCPC) Degree in a health relevant subject or willingness to complete a degree (within 3 years of appointment)

Desirable criteria

2. Mentoring qualification equivalent

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria

3. Experience of recent community/acute healthcare gained through education or work experience placement or previous employment

KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria

4. Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS Knowledge of up to date clinical practice

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Essential criteria

5. Ability to motivate and organise others to ensure best practice. Ability to work under pressure Flexible and adaptable

ABILITY TO MANAGE

Essential criteria

6. Able to support the implementation of local and national agenda’s for health under the guidance of the team lead / ward manager. Ability to prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures.
