UX Designer / UX Consultant
We are working with a global consultancy to recruit a UX Designer with a passion for designing accessible, user-centred digital services for the public sector. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful national programmes, shaping services used by millions across the UK.
You’ll join a dynamic team focused on transforming complex government systems into intuitive, inclusive experiences that meet GDS standards and deliver real value to users.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and deliver user experiences for public sector services, from concept through to implementation.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary agile teams including researchers, developers, and service designers.
* Develop user journeys, wireframes, personas, and service maps grounded in user research and evidence.
* Ensure accessibility and inclusion are embedded throughout the design process.
* Engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to communicate design decisions.
Required Experience
* Demonstrable experience in user experience design within UK Government or wider public sector projects.
* Strong understanding of user-centred design principles and accessibility standards (GDS knowledge essential).
* Proficiency in UX artefact creation (e.g. wireframes, journey maps, prototypes).
* Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and collaborative working environments.
* Clear, confident communication across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Preferred (Not Essential)
* Experience working with prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch).
* Exposure to front-end technologies or code-based prototyping is an advantage but not a requirement.
* Previous experience working with the GOV.uk prototype toolkit.
