Position Description

At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Shift Supervisor to join the Data, Power, & Control - Starline Team in Reading, UK. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for all activities, output and performance of the in-house manufacturing processes and the personnel who perform them. The Shift Supervisor must model high standards of conduct and lead by example according to Legrand’s values. This position is responsible for ensuring that all products meet quality specifications, testing requirements and design criteria. The Shift Supervisor will ensure that safety, quality, productivity and efficiency goals are met by closely monitoring operational metrics, identifying areas of improvement and taking appropriate action.

What Will You Do?

1. Ensure that Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to during the shift in line with Legrand’s health and safety policies.
2. Maintain high employee morale
3. Manage, develop and motivate direct and indirect reporting staff
4. Models high standards of conduct and leadership
5. Lead Legrand team members to produce quality products on-time according to company polices
6. Supervise Legrand team members according to Legrand leadership development training
7. Lead and manage assigned manufacturing processes utilizing the Legrand Way Tier 2 meetings.
8. Responsible for ensuring that all output built meets departmental standards of safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, 6S and budgetary (tools, scrap, goals
9. Develop and train new and existing employees to assist them in achieving their goals
10. Prepare the oncoming shift for success and provide an orderly, well documented shift transition
11. Work with off-shift supervisors to maintain a productive relationship between shifts and manage production handovers effectively.
12. Have an active role in the company’s continuous improvement plans for future growth of the organization.
13. Liaison between front line employees and all levels of management; key point of contact for all shop related communications
14. Professionally conduct employee corrective action after review with management
15. Evaluate and track quality and production processes in accordance with the ISO 9001 standards in place
16. Identify and resolve operational issues in conjunction with the frontline supervisor and Human Resources
17. Adhere to all company policies, guidelines and practices including the values.
18. Provide input into departmental budget
19. Purchase non-inventory supplies as required
20. Assist in manual labor processes on an as-needed basis
21. Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Education:

22. Good written and oral communication skills
23. Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts, including 6S
24. Team building skills including ability to resolve conflict while maintaining harmonious work environment
25. Proficiency using MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
26. Working knowledge of ERP/MRP (Infor Syteline preferred) and inventory flow/control.
27. Proven ability to lead teams while achieving goals
28. Proven ability to develop individuals and teams
29. Proven ability to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

30. Flexible with demonstrated ability to multi-task
31. Sense of priority and urgency
32. Good verbal and written communication skills
33. Extremely Organized
34. Looks at change in a positive manner
35. Promotes good attitude and teamwork

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

36. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
37. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
38. Regularly required to stand; walk and communicate with others
39. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
40. Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs
41. Primary working hours will be 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM
