Purchasing Specialist – Manufacturing Location: Elland, UK Type: Permanent | Full-time An excellent opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Specialist to join a well-established manufacturer, supporting procurement across UK fabrication and assembly sites. You’ll be responsible for ensuring timely material availability, supplier management, and accurate data within SAP. Key Responsibilities: * Conduct material requirements analysis and manage replenishment orders * Ensure timely availability of materials in line with operational demand * Use operational data and sales insight to inform purchasing decisions * Forecast inventory and manage stock levels, turnover, and obsolescence * Ensure compliance with procurement policies and supplier certifications * Handle import/export processes and liaise with customs and couriers * Negotiate pricing and terms with third-party suppliers * Raise POs, track deliveries, and resolve delays or discrepancies * Maintain supplier records, material master data, and pricing info * Set and maintain safety stock levels and reorder points * Act as a key SAP MM/PP user, supporting procurement and planning * Troubleshoot SAP transactions to ensure data accuracy * Collaborate with production and warehouse teams on inventory control * Monitor supplier KPIs: OTIF, quality rates, resolution speed * Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams * Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and finance * Support new material introductions and alignment with production * Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements * Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation * Ensure timely invoice processing with finance team Requirements: * 2 years’ purchasing experience in manufacturing/industrial environments * Strong SAP (or similar ERP) experience * Solid understanding of procurement and inventory management * Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook * Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills * Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks * Proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative team player Desirable: * Experience supporting multi-site or regional procurement * Degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or related field Ready to make an impact in a fast-paced manufacturing environment?
