About the Role We are seeking a motivated and organised Health & Safety Assistant to provide essential administrative, audit and project support to a busy Health & Safety team. This role plays a key part in helping the organisation meet its legal responsibilities and maintain effective health & safety systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative experience who is looking to develop further within the Health & Safety field.
Key Responsibilities Provide a wide range of administrative support including minute-taking, diary management, document production and data handling.
Act as a first point of contact for the department, offering guidance on established H&S procedures.
Maintain accurate records and manage information in line with policies.
Assist with producing quarterly and annual H&S performance reports, including collating data for national returns.
Support processes for reporting accidents and incidents.
Update departmental systems (including risk assessments, databases, KPIs, and web content).
Purchase safety equipment and manage purchase orders.
Conduct workplace visits, inspections and internal ISO 45001 audits, producing written reports.
Assist with departmental projects and contribute to wider planning activities.
Essential Requirements Minimum of 4 GCSEs (AC / 94) * including Maths and English certificate evidence required .
Previous experience in administrative or customer-facing roles.
Strong ICT skills, including MS Office.
Excellent communication, organisation and time-management abilities.
Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Full, valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle (travel to sites across the region required).
Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and GDPR.
Willingness to undertake training and comply with Health & Safety legislation.
Working Arrangements Office-based for the first 3 months.
Potential for 12 days per week working from home thereafter.
Travel to different locations within the service area will be required.
Checks & Compliance A Standard DBS check is required please ensure you are eligible.
Candidates must not have unspent convictions .
Qualification certificates will be checked at interview.
