The Role We are seeking a Deputy Manager to support the running of two children's residential homes in Maidstone : Home 1 An established 2-bed home supporting children with EBD. Home 2 A brand-new 4-bed home, set to provide a nurturing environment for children with EBD needs .
As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring both homes provide high-quality care, meet regulatory requirements, and support young people to thrive.
Key Responsibilities Assist in the day-to-day management of both homes, ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured environment. Lead, mentor, and support the staff team, promoting best practices in line with Ofsted regulations. Work closely with the Registered Manager to develop and implement care plans that meet the needs of each child. Ensure compliance with all safeguarding, health & safety, and legislative requirements. Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including social workers, families, and education providers. Provide hands-on support, stepping in as needed to cover shifts and offer guidance to staff. Assist with staff recruitment, training, and supervision, fostering a positive team culture.
What Were Looking For Experience as a Deputy Manager or Team Leader in a childrens residential setting. Strong understanding of EBD needs and a child-centred approach to care. Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and relevant Childrens Home legislation. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) Level 5 is desirable, or willingness to work towards it. Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills. Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties.
