The post holder will be an experienced practitioner rotating through the Radiotherapy Department, providing clinical technical services using a range of highly specialist Radiotherapy Treatment and planning equipment.
The post holder will work with and deputise for the Band 7 Radiographer, managing the caseload, staff, and equipment of their designated unit, maintaining records, and delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care.
The department provides clinical placements for student Radiographers, and the post holder will participate fully in supervision, training, and assessing students.
Key Responsibilities
1. Interpret and apply the Radiation prescription/plan presented by the Consultant Oncologist.
2. Operate Radiotherapy equipment to deliver treatment safely and accurately within defined tolerances.
3. Undertake pre-treatment processes including patient scheduling, calculation of radiation treatments, data input, image transfer, and checking complex prescriptions.
4. Verify patient pathways through plan checks, verification imaging, and in-vivo dosimetry.
5. Evaluate process results and act according to departmental procedures.
6. Undertake ‘Out of Hours’ and ‘On-Call’ duties, including bank holidays.
7. Work with the Pre-Treatment team to acquire localisation CT planning scans.
8. Document all mandatory IRMER statements and respond appropriately to patient information.
