The Role: Mechanical Assembler/Fitter We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Assembler/Fitter to join a long-established and highly respected engineering manufacturing company. This is a hands-on, varied position where you will be assembling and fitting precision equipment used within the food processing industry to the highest standards. This full-time, permanent opportunity is based within the company’s production facility, with occasional work on customer sites as required. As a Mechanical Assembler/Fitter, you will play a key role in ensuring complex machinery is built to exact specifications, supporting a business with a reputation for quality engineering solutions. Main Responsibilities (Mechanical Assembler/Fitter): • Assemble and fit manufacturing components for stainless steel food processing equipment • Mechanical motor fitting, stripping, and rebuilding • Build and fit air pneumatics and bearing housings • Read and interpret engineering drawings with accuracy • Work with a variety of hand tools and mechanical equipment • Build and fit special purpose machinery to high standards • Support with hydraulics assembly and maintenance tasks • Follow Health & Safety practices, including risk assessments and method statements • Maintain good housekeeping, motivation, and discipline in the workplace • Represent the company professionally when working on client sites Skills/Experience (Mechanical Assembler/Fitter): • Previous experience in mechanical assembly and fitting is essential • Strong understanding of engineering drawings • Proficiency with hand tools and mechanical equipment • Experience with motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and bearing housings • Background in building special purpose machinery • City & Guilds in Engineering or equivalent experience desirable • Team player with a proactive and reliable approach Salary & Working Hours (Mechanical Assembler/Fitter): • Pay rate dependent on experience • 39 hours per week, Monday–Friday • Overtime available at 1.5x hourly rate (Monday–Friday evenings and Saturday mornings) Benefits (Mechanical Assembler/Fitter): • Annual bonus based on company performance • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing to 26 with service) • Life assurance scheme • Company sick pay scheme • Pension scheme • Subsidised drinks and snacks available on-site • Free workwear provided • Staff meals and company events If the position of Mechanical Assembler/Fitter is of interest, please click Apply.
