About the role
Copello are supporting a leading Defence client in their search for a Mechanical Technician to join their team. You’ll work in a fast paced environment, contributing to the inspection and certification of a wide range of mechanical hardware, from small fixtures to complex defence systems.
You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that our hardware is manufactured to the highest quality and design standards, supporting programmes to meet performance, cost, and schedule targets.
Key responsibilities
* Inspect and certify mechanical builds to drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
* Maintain a safe and organized workspace, following all 5S principles.
* Ensure all manufacturing activities meet time, cost, and quality requirements.
* Control and process any non‑conformances correctly.
* Complete and certify all relevant manufacturing documentation.
* Collaborate closely with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
* Contribute feedback to improve manufacturing processes and outcomes.
* Maintain excellent workmanship standards and consistently deliver high-quality results.
What we’re looking for
Essential qualifications:
* Advanced Level or Level 3 Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing.
* Level 3 academic qualification (ONC, Diploma, etc.) in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing.
* Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ) in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing.
Skills and experience:
* Strong ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and planning instructions.
* Experience inspecting mechanical hardware for damage and build integrity.
* High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
* Ability to consistently produce work to exceptional standards.
* Awareness of ESD/FOD best practices (an advantage).
* Flexible, proactive, and adaptable approach to work
