Managing Director – Electrical Contracting
Location: Northampton

The Role:
This is a strategic leadership position where your primary focus will be driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and strengthening long-term customer relationships. You will take overall responsibility for the commercial performance of the business, reporting directly to the Chairman, while empowering an established operational team to deliver projects.
A key aspect of this role will be laying down the foundations for sustainable growth, long-term stability, and succession planning. You will play a vital part in shaping the future direction of the business, ensuring its continued success and establishing a lasting legacy in the electrical contracting marketplace.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute the company's growth strategy with a clear focus on sales performance and business development
* Implement the structures and processes needed to ensure sustainable growth, market resilience, and business continuity
* Drive new business opportunities while strengthening long-term customer and stakeholder relationships
* Represent the company externally, building the brand and positioning the business for long-term success
* Lead and inspire the sales function, ensuring ambitious targets are achieved while mentoring future leaders within the business
* Monitor and guide commercial performance, including forecasting, financial oversight, and margin management
* Work closely with the senior operations team to ensure customer satisfaction and consistent project delivery
* Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and succession—developing talent and preparing the business for its next generation of leadership
* Ensure compliance with legal regulations and internal policies to protect and strengthen the company's reputation and long-term standing
The Candidate:
We are seeking a commercially driven leader with proven experience in a senior sales, commercial director, or managing director role within the construction, M&E contracting, or a related technical services environment.
You will bring a strong track record of:
* Delivering revenue growth and securing large contracts in competitive markets
* Building and leading sales teams to exceed performance targets
* Developing and maintaining long-term customer and stakeholder relationships
* Driving commercial performance with strong financial and negotiation skills
* Contributing to business sustainability and long-term succession strategies
The ideal candidate will be:

* Commercially astute, with a deep understanding of pricing, margins, and competitive positioning

* Preferably degree-educated, with relevant industry knowledge of electrical or mechanical contracting

Pay: £75,000.00-£140,000.00 per year
