Locations: We have 2 work locations in South Oxfordshire – One at our Grove facility which is located in a new building on the recently developed Grove Business Park, and one in Ardington less than 10 minutes away within an easy commute from areas of Reading, Swindon, Newbury and Oxford Job Summary / Purpose The purpose of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager role is to lead the team responsible for delivering capable products across their entire lifecycle from development through to end of life. The role will require attention to details, the setting of clear priorities and standards of delivery and coaching the team to high performance in a challenging and changing environment. Key Accountabilities Lead projects and activities that will optimise production efficiency, maximise capacity and improve quality Become a product expert to manage new and existing products through their production life cycle. Monitor performance against agreed metrics (FPY, wRMA, etc) and identify and deliver work packages to improve performance where required Own the production change management process including Engineering Change Requests, Manufacturing Deviations and customer special builds. Facilitate prompt technical support to production and repairs, including support for individual unit failures. Investigate and manage resolutions to production test issues and report to wider team. Manage obsolescence handling and support second sourcing activities. Manage escalation process to R&D where direct support for production is required Facilitate the design, build and documentation of test jigs for production or subcontract manufacture use. Lead the transition of products into manufacturing ensuring quality and delivery targets can be met. Deliver training to the production team to enable efficient manufacturing of these products Undertake minor design modifications for improved build, cost or function. Lead the technical activities surrounding product end of life, communicating with the segment product managers and other stakeholders as required. Adhere to company and department processes Be part of the Engineering Leadership team, contributing to the continued development of this function. Work with the leadership team to continually improve engineering processes Help drive a cross-functional team culture and champion the voice of the customer throughout the project process. Support & influence continuous improvement initiatives within the team. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate and as requested by their manager.
