Job type: Full time, minimum 37.5, typically 40 hours per week

* The formal contracted place of work is our office, located in King Street, Manchester - but this is a predominantly remote role (see below) where you will be based at home
* This particular role will cover our engagement activity across the south east region (see below for those areas covered) and you will be required to be out and about in these areas regularly as part of the role
* The role would therefore best suit someone primarily located in this region
Salary range: c.£35,000 plus access to company share scheme after 1 year's service
Annual leave: 25 days p.a. plus statutory Bank Holidays, birthday and one Friday afternoon per month

DUTIES AND DETAILS
As a Community Engagement Specialist for Thermly, you will drive engagement with all our stakeholders across your region, building relationships with homeowners, local groups, local authorities, and our growing supply chain (installers). You will play a key role in developing the company's local knowledge expertise and developing a truly community-led approach to delivering Thermly's value proposition.

The region this role is expected to cover includes the following areas:
* Kent and Medway
* East Sussex
* Surrey
* West Sussex
Duties
* Lead and coordinate community engagement initiatives with stakeholders including homeowners, community groups, the public sector and installers.
* Build and maintain relationships with local authorities and community organisations to form long-term partnerships, and subsequently build trust with homeowners.
* Identify, co-ordinate and represent Thermly at relevant events.
* Provide intelligence and insights to the wider Thermly team about local opportunities and the most efficient/effective approaches to yield results
* With support of our Partnerships Lead, develop and sustain positive working relationships with our supply chain in the area, identifying opportunities for better working practices and approaches in delivering work 'on the ground'
* Undertake any necessary research (alongside our Research and Policy Lead) and utilise on-the-ground experience to better understand the audience
* Leverage in-depth knowledge of retrofit, as well as Thermly’s products and services, to provide tailored advice and support within community settings.
* Identify and co-ordinate local marketing and engagement opportunities (both digital and traditional/print) and collaborate with the marketing and design team to request, create, tailor, and deliver relevant content. It will be heavily influenced by the needs of the community, which you will identify.
* We take a data- and evidence-led approach to ensure continuous improvement. You will therefore be expected to be able to interpret a range of data and evolve plans and approaches as required
* It is anticipated that you will be getting out into the community (visiting installers, events, and undertaking community engagement) for up to three days per week.
To be clear you will NOT be required to visit individual householders in their homes as part of this role.
Other details/responsibilities
* Whilst the role is primarily remote working, your formal/contracted place of work is Manchester and you will be required to attend the monthly team meeting in person in Manchester each month.
* This role requires both regular travel and an intermittent ability/willingness to work on a weekend when attending events. In such a weekend scenario, time of in lieu the following week is provided.
* Anything else that we need you to do – we are a small team and everyone contributes across the business when required to do so.

* Be able to demonstrate the ability to plan, manage and handle multiple projects, activities and outputs simultaneously - showing a clear understanding of, and responsibility towards, the commercial needs of the company
* Genuine calmness under pressure
* Confidence in terms of an ability to engage with, and constructively advise, the directors and other senior management in all aspects of the role
* Be passionate – and optimistic - about finding solutions to dealing with climate change. Your glass must be half full.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Essential:
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a community engagement role relevant to the climate sector
* Strong understanding of climate change and the domestic retrofit sector in particular, including the impacts, costs, and benefits of various solutions.
* A very good understanding of the climate technology supply chain and the process of installation of technologies, and how installers / contractors typically work
* Experience of dealing with the public sector - including local authorities, elected representatives and council officers
* Proven ability to engage with householders (our primary customers), with the ability to empathise and constructively inform (both on a one-to-one and group/presentational basis)
* A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Desirable:
* A degree in a relevant discipline
* An understanding of existing and evolving government policy and strategy in the retrofit sector
