Are you passionate about helping children and young people with diverse and complex needs reach their full potential? We are seeking a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting that supports learners aged 2 to 19 with a wide range of developmental, learning, and communication needs. About the Setting This is a specialist provision supporting students with: Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) A wide range of complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) All children and young people have EHCPs, and the school environment is designed to offer meaningful, personalised, and aspirational learning experiences. The provision operates across multiple age phases, from Early Years through to Post-16, with a focus on developing independence, communication, life skills, and personal development. There are specialist classes and a highly supportive staff team committed to meeting the individual needs of all learners. What You’ll Do As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: Support students with individualised learning programmes, tailored to their developmental levels, sensory needs, and communication styles. Promote independence, curiosity, and engagement through meaningful, structured activities. Work closely with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to deliver a consistent and coordinated approach. Assist with personal care, communication systems (such as visual timetables or AAC), sensory integration strategies, and routine management where required. Foster a calm, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that reflects the setting’s strong focus on personal development and positive behaviour. What We’re Looking For Enhanced DBS on the Update Service A current Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service is required to work within this safeguarding‑focused specialist environment. Compassion & Patience You understand that learners may require significant time, repetition, or calm reassurance to engage successfully. Adaptability & Creativity You are confident working across early years, primary, secondary, and post‑16 pathways, adapting your approach to a variety of complex needs.
