Job Summary
The post holder will be a Band 7 Physiotherapist specialising in paediatrics and participating as a member of the Gloucestershire Children's Physiotherapy team, independently managing a specialised clinical caseload. This involves assessment, advising, planning, delivering, and evaluating treatment for a complex caseload of children and their families. They will also coordinate a local team as a locality lead, taking responsibility for delegation, supervision, development, and teaching.
The post holder will provide leadership within the Children's Physiotherapy Service, ensuring the service is evidence-based and aligns with Clinical Governance requirements. They will collaborate with the CYPS Physiotherapy Head of Service and senior leads to deliver efficient services, providing operational leadership and aligning priorities with Trust values.
Main duties of the job
1. Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
2. Manage clinical risk within own patient caseload.
3. Conduct comprehensive and accurate diagnostic assessments of children, including those with complex presentations.
4. Formulate individualised, specialised clinical management programmes using a wide range of treatment skills.
5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records following Trust guidelines.
6. Produce reports for other disciplines or agencies regarding assessment findings and treatment outcomes.
7. Work in accordance with Trust, CSP, and APCP guidelines, monitoring practice quality against national standards.

Job Responsibilities
* Employ suitable communication skills with children and families with difficulties in understanding or communicating.
* Educate families about conditions and physiotherapy aims following consent.
* Engage children and families in planning treatment goals and programmes.
* Use appropriate skills to motivate and ensure cooperation.
* Communicate complex information empathetically and effectively within the team and with other agencies.
Leadership
* Supervise and manage performance of staff reporting to the post holder.
* Participate in performance reviews, recruitment, and induction processes.
* Lead departmental meetings and contribute to service development.
* Ensure equipment safety and resource availability.
* Act as a locality lead, ensuring performance and compliance.
* Represent the service in trust meetings and lead project groups.
* Collect and input statistical data, adhere to policies, and maintain HPC registration.
Education and Training
* Maintain own CPD, participate in in-service training, and supervise students and staff.
* Contribute to training programmes and mandatory training, including safeguarding.
Minimum Requirements
The candidate must hold a Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy, be HCPC registered, and have relevant postgraduate clinical experience, including supervising staff and working with children.
