Join us on a journey that truly matters - Here at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), we’re committed to transforming and improving how people move across our amazing region. Whilst we have already achieved so much - such as Bus Franchising bringing our local bus services back under local control as part of the Bee Network; there are many more exciting opportunities ahead.
Be part of something BIG! - Greater Manchester’s time is now – with over £2.5 billion in committed investment to enhance and develop our infrastructure transport network over the next 5 years; as we continue our mission to deliver the UK’s first fully integrated, Zero Emission public transport system outside of London.
As we embark on the next stages of our exciting transformation journey; we are looking for some special people who want to be part of something great to come and join our award-winning teams over the next few months!!
Who we are?
Welcome to Projects Group, part of Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) - we are responsible for ensuring the organisation has firm foundations to successfully develop and deliver a large, complex and technically diverse portfolio of capital and revenue projects and programmes across Greater Manchester - on time, within budget and with the customer at the heart of what we do!!
Our extensive portfolio of projects and programmes covers a significant number of areas within the different modes of transport infrastructure throughout Greater Manchester including Bus infrastructure, Metrolink, Rail, Electrification, Interchanges, Zero Emissions, Clean Air, Active Travel and Business Change – just to name a few!
About the role?
Over the next few months, we are looking for Senior Risk Managers to join our team – the role will sit within our well-established Programme Management Office (PMO); which is the engine room of Projects Group and plays a pivotal role in ensuring and maintaining successful project and programme delivery.
Our Senior Risk Managers are experienced senior members of the team who will report to our Risk Management Lead and will have responsibility for managing designated Risk Analysts and/ or Risk Managers alongside managing their own portfolio of projects and programmes.
You will work effectively alongside our existing team of commercial, controls and project management teams to always develop and implement robust risk management strategies and processes; whilst ensuring methods of analysis with periodic reporting up to senior levels and make recommendations to the project and programme teams. In addition, you will also play a key role in contributing to the continued development and improvement of the Projects Group function - please see role profile.
This is hybrid role where you will be expected to work in the office for a minimum of 2 days per week.
What we need from you?
What you do and how you do it is important – whatever type of role you work in at TfGM – and even small behaviours and actions can have a really big impact. At TfGM, our behaviours bring to life our values of Deliver, Care and Adapt.
You will be an enthusiastic and ambitious individual who has a detailed understanding of Risk Management methodology and processes and have a good attention for detail. You will co-ordinate Risk Management services to the designated programmes and projects, to facilitate the delivery of projects to time, cost, and quality.
You will be a strong communicator and be able to develop and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders at varying levels. You will have the ability to problem solve and find resolutions to issues and be able to interpret data (both written and numerical) whilst working to agreed deadlines.
You will have proven construction industry knowledge and an in depth understanding and application of risk management process, as well as a broader appreciation of project controls. You will understand and be able to consistently apply our Risk Management Framework across all projects and programmes and be able to identify, assess, manage, monitor, and report all risks using appropriate tools (e.g., Primavera Risk Analyser, Predict controller and Risk analyser, @Risk).
Ideally you will hold a risk management qualification e.g., Institute of Risk Management or have equivalent relevant experience.
What we can offer you?
These are permanent roles with a salary range of £64,770-£72,024 per annum – depending on skills and experience.
This is comprised of a base salary of £57,770-£65,024 plus a Market Factor Supplement (MFS) of £7000 per annum which is paid monthly and reviewed on an annual basis.
