Job Description
Find where you belong!
What if your legal expertise could directly influence the strategic direction of a business? Join a dynamic team where your counsel isn’t just valued—it’s essential to growth and success.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our growing Legal team as our first in-house property lawyer. This is a great opportunity for someone who is seeking a new challenge and looking to join a company which is an established household name but also ambitious and at an exciting time in its development.
What’s it all about?
As a core member of our team, you will report directly to the General Counsel and provide legal support on property-based projects and deals as well as working day-to-day with our Estates team, assessing risks and effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
We’re looking for a commercially-minded legal professional to support key business initiatives—including sustainability projects—while providing end-to-end legal support on property matters across a diverse portfolio of over 600 hotels. You’ll liaise with landlords, agents, sub-tenants, and third parties; advise on acquisitions and integrations; and manage compliance with governance and financing requirements. From negotiating property documents to supporting litigation, you'll work both independently and cross-functionally, helping the business navigate legal challenges and regulatory changes with practical, strategic solutions.
Why Travelodge?
We believe in creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can be their true self and belong. We work hard to improve the diversity of our teams and celebrate our differences. And we care about our colleagues’ wellbeing, so we ensure there are plenty of resources available so everyone can look after their emotional, physical, financial and work wellbeing. We call this “Better Me”.
Who will this appeal to?
You will be 3+ years’ PQE with a property law background, gained at either a good private practice firm, or in house. You will have experience of property acquisitions, a deep understanding of a range of property documentation and experience working for property operators and tenants as well as landlords.
You will have the ability to make commercial decisions rather than simply advise on legal risks and have a willingness to advise practically on contract disputes and interpretation.
What are the extra benefits of working for Travelodge?
* Hybrid working - a minimum of 60% of your time should be spent in the office, but you’re welcome to come in every day if you prefer!
* 50% personal discount for hotel bookings and great friends and family discounts too!
* Contributory pension scheme
* 25 days holiday + bank holidays, increasing with length of service
* Annual bonus
* A focus on learning and career development
