Registered Nurse - 33 hrs

Location: Jordanstown Care Home, 1A Old Manse Road, Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, BT37 0RU.

Main purpose of the role

To lead the care team to ensure the delivery of excellent standards of care, to prescribe, deliver and supervise the execution of excellent standards of care in accordance with Beaumont Care Homes Ltd policies and procedures; promoting rehabilitation where appropriate and independence where possible and desired with dignity and respect at all times such that the lives of our residents is as they would wish it, and chose it, to be.


What you will need

Important information: NB the rate of pay is dependent upon experience. Newly qualified nurses will commence on £18.27 per hour rising to £19.30 after one year post qualification/registration experience.


Responsibilities

* Deliver and oversee the highest possible standards of person centred care - continually assessing residents\' needs and wishes, developing the service to enhance quality of life.
* Champion appropriate independence and personal choice; develop, review and update care plans to meet changing physical, social and psychological needs.
* Oversee all aspects of medicine management on your shift ensuring medicines are appropriately received, stored and administered in accordance with company policies and current legislation.
* Build and market the positive reputation of the business; communicate warmly and professionally with all visitors, including family, friends and external stakeholders.
* Ensure all elements of resident experience are positive, from admission to discharge.
* Participate knowledgeably and professionally in all inspection visits from RQIA, Trusts and CCGs, ensuring your teams are ready at all times to do the same.
* Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and best practice guidelines; ensure risks are proactively managed and issues identified and reported appropriately.
* Follow rigorous monitoring and recording practices; document timely assessments on admission, person centred care planning, ongoing reviews and incident reporting.
* Promote a cohesive team approach, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality care and support staff to deliver that care.
* Foster an atmosphere where staff feel connected to residents, the host home, portfolio, division and the wider organisation.
* Understand the key targets for the host home and support the Home Manager in achieving them.
* Promote and practice high standards of nursing care; supervise staff and ensure smooth, efficient shifts.
* Participate in delivery of all aspects of resident care; support, guide, teach and mentor others in line with the NMC Code.
* Work within the guidance of the NMC Code at all times.
* Attend relevant meetings and regular team appraisals with line manager; engage in continual professional development and meet revalidation requirements.

Qualifications

Required criteria

* NMC Registered Nurse
* Numerate and literate with effective verbal and written communication
* Proficient IT and communication systems use for the role
* Ability to develop internal and external professional relationships
* Ability to work under pressure while motivating the team

Desired criteria

* Experience delivering nursing care in elderly healthcare
* People management experience
* Experience with quality and clinical governance programmes, including audits
