About the role:

We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Hampton Water Treatment Works (WTW). Your role will be to ensure all equipment at our waste treatment works operates safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods, assisting in keeping the site running smoothly.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician

1. Investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
2. Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if required.
3. Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, valves, measurement instruments, and chemical handling equipment.
4. Complete statutory checks as required.
5. Work safely, adhering to all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.

Base Location: Hampton Water Treatment Works - TW12 2ES

Working Pattern: 38 hours, Monday-Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and overtime opportunities potentially increasing earnings by £8,000 - £10,000.

All PPE and tools are provided.


What you should bring to the role

* Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or NVQ/C&G level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
* Problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement solutions or escalate when necessary.
* Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal and external staff and contractors.
* Resilience to adapt to work pressures and changing environments.
* Ability to work independently, designing and meeting standards.
* Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety issues.
* Teamwork skills, respectful and supportive of others.
* IT literacy.
* Full UK driving license.
