Questech are recruiting on behalf of our client in Halifax, West Yorkshire for an experienced Category Buyer to play a key role in sourcing machined component trim parts and services, ensuring timely delivery and supporting cross-functional project success.

The Person:

HNC in Engineering and/or CIPS qualification desirable
*
Proven experience in category buying within a complex engineering or technical manufacturing environment
*
Strong knowledge of machining, materials, and the ability to read engineering drawings
*
Familiarity with purchasing workflows and SRM systems
*
Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills
*
SAP knowledge preferred
*
Willingness to travel to supplier sites as required
The Role:
*
Create and implement category sourcing strategies using the Category Management process.
*
Manage all commercial aspects of sourcing, including spend analysis, tendering, and awarding business.
*
Negotiate, implement, and maintain supplier framework agreements.
*
Drive supplier development programmes and performance reviews.
*
Support internal and external sales teams with costings for tenders and aftermarket quotations.
*
Ensure timely conversion of requisitions to purchase orders and manage delivery schedules.
*
Maintain SAP system data and proactively mitigate supply risks.
*
Conduct supplier visits and audits to track delivery performance.
*
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and company duty of care standards.
This role is working Monday to Friday - Days Only.
The salary is dependant on skills and experience and will be between:
£35,000pa - £40,000pa
