Science Graduate – Aspiring Teacher Opportunity\n Location: Portsmouth\n Start Date: September 2025\n Contract: Full-time | One-year placement with the opportunity to progress to ITT (Initial Teacher Training) in September 2026\n Salary: Competitive (based on experience and responsibilities)\n\nAn ambitious and inclusive secondary academy in Portsmouth is offering an exciting opportunity for a science graduate who is passionate about education and considering a future in teaching.\n\nThe school, recently graded ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted, is looking to appoint a Graduate Science Teaching Associate to support students in science lessons, gain classroom experience, and develop their skills with a view to starting a fully supported teacher training programme (ITT) in September 2026.\n\nThis is the perfect role for someone who is enthusiastic about science, enjoys working with young people, and is curious about a career in teaching—but would like to gain experience in the classroom before committing to formal training.\n\nThe ideal candidate will:\n\nHold a science-related degree (or be due to graduate in summer 2025)\n\nHave a genuine interest in education and working with secondary-aged students\n\nBe positive, proactive, and willing to learn\n\nBe keen to develop their teaching skills with the long-term goal of becoming a qualified teacher\n\nThe role offers:\n\nA paid, full-time position working alongside experienced teachers and support staff\n\nOpportunities to assist in lessons, lead small group interventions, and gradually build confidence in the classroom\n\nStructured training and professional development throughout the year\n\nA clear pathway to Initial Teacher Training (ITT), starting in September 2026, with the support of a national network and high-performing academy\n\nThis is a unique and rewarding opportunity for a science graduate to take the first step into teaching in a supportive, forward-thinking school community.
