JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will assist in the day to day coordination of scheduled plant maintenance, address emergency repairs and breakdowns and maintain our maintenance / inspection / safety records. You will be responsible for preserving the good condition of the infrastructure and ensure that the Facilities are safe and well-functioning. You will be required to work on own judgement and decisions, communicate internally and externally as well as managing contractors daily activities. This role is temporary for a period of 6 months. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES. Under the guidance of the Facilities Manager, this role entails: Coordinating contractors for the maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities Managing and leading change to ensure minimum disruption to core activities Supervising, directing, coordinating and planning essential central services such as maintenance, cleaning, waste disposal and recycling Ensuring the building meets health and safety requirements and that facilities comply with relevant legislation. Checking that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and following up on any deficiencies. Coordinating and leading one or more teams to cover various areas of responsibility where necessary. Responding appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and dealing with the consequences. Maintaining associated equipment and maintenance records. Maintaining approved contractors database ensuring all required documentation is received and filed. Keeping staff safe from maintenance activities taking place during office hours. Familiar with Risk Assessments-Method Statements and Permits to Work. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Previous experience working within a facilities/similar environment. Interpersonal, relationship-building and networking skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize your workload. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent team work and organizational skills and be able to motivate others. Good time management skills. Computer literate and good knowledge of MS Office packages. A practical, flexible and innovative approach to work. Preferred Additional Skills Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders Provide guidance and foster a collaborative work environment. Proficiency with facilities management software and tools SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS You will need to demonstrate: Understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems) Understanding of building management systems (BMS) and smart building technologies Familiarity with energy efficiency practices and sustainability initiatives The ability to multi-task and prioritize your workload. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent team work and organizational skills A practical, flexible and innovative approach to work. Ability to excel in a cross-organisational, cross cultural, global team environment. Handle special assignments promptly and professionally. Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, and competency. WORKING CONDITIONS As the Facilities Engineer, you will operate in a dynamic environment, balancing office-based responsibilities with hands-on work across various building areas. You will frequently move throughout the facility to inspect building systems, address issues, and supervise maintenance or renovation activities. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Scotland EHS standards.
