We are looking for individuals with experience to work in healthcare, to join the NHS family helping people from your local community.
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, you will assist the Ward/Department team in providing the highest possible standard of care for patients. The post holder will undertake a range of tasks as delegated by a Registered Nurse, including Venepuncture & ECG, and recording patient observations for patients attending the Pre-Assessment Clinic. Responsibilities also include monitoring stock levels and supporting the nursing/admin team as required.
Follow Trust policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures. Promote effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team and take measures to overcome communication difficulties. Be familiar with Trust policy and procedures for reporting clinical incidents, including reporting incidents and near misses.
Provide support and assistance to new and junior staff members and student learners.
Qualifications & Experience Required
1. Substantial recent/current experience of working in a healthcare setting.
2. Care Certificate based on standards set by NHS England, Skills for Care, and Skills for Health, gained through vocational work (online care certificates are not accepted).
3. Demonstrate a good standard of numeracy and literacy.
4. NVQ Level 2/3 or Diploma in Health is desirable.
5. Ability to carry out safe movement and handling practices from mandatory training.
6. Experience in obtaining specimens, preparing patients for treatments, and performing clinical observations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, and oxygen saturation.
7. Ability to undertake blood glucose monitoring, venepuncture, and cannulation under the direction of a registered nurse.
8. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment, including disposal of clinical waste and sharps per Trust policy.
9. Undertake clerical duties, including reception/telephone duties and IT skills.
10. Safeguard the wellbeing and dignity of patients and their relatives.
11. Set objectives within a PDP supporting high standards of clinical care and undertake ongoing training to keep skills up to date.
