Overview
The Matron will be a highly visible, accessible, and supportive presence in Theatres & Perioperative Services, to which patients, their families and others can turn for leadership, assistance, advice, and support. The post holder will be part of the Divisional Nursing Leadership team with specific responsibility for Theatres & Perioperative Services.

Skills
* Advanced communications skills including inter-personal skills, liaison and negotiation skills, writing and presentation skills
* Ability to manage the service and contribute to overall strategy for the service
* Expert clinical skills within the relevant field
* Ability to prioritise work, meet tight deadlines and work independently
Experience
* Relevant experience at senior nurse level (band 7 or above) in Theatres & Perioperative services
* Experienced in managing budgetary resources across a service
* Experience of working with establishments and workforce planning experience
* Evidence of managing complaints/ PALS
Knowledge
* Evidence of demonstrable knowledge of management development and nursing policy and practice development. Sound knowledge of relevant surgical and perioperative high performance delivery standards and commitment to networking
* Workforce planning, recruitment and retention strategies
