About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Forklift Engineer to join a growing material handling service team in the West Yorkshire area. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of a range of forklift trucks and material handling equipment, including diesel, LPG, and electric models.
This is a field-based role providing service support to customers across the region, with the use of a fully equipped company van. You'll work independently to diagnose faults, complete repairs, and ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest safety and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of forklift trucks and material handling equipment.
Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults quickly and effectively.
Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with LOLER and PUWER regulations.
Maintain accurate service documentation and job reports.
Manage your own workload and schedule to ensure efficient customer support.
Deliver a high level of customer service and professionalism on every visit.
Work closely with the service team to communicate parts requirements and technical feedback.
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience as a Forklift Engineer, Plant Fitter, or Mechanical Engineer within the material handling or heavy equipment sector.
Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Ability to diagnose faults using manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
Full UK driving licence (essential).
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred).
