CTO – Digital Assets
Build the platform, shape the org, set the roadmap.
We are currently supporting a client in the digital assets space to hire a CTO to own their technology strategy, build-out, and credibility with regulators and capital providers.
This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role for a crypto/fintech engineering leader who has built platforms before and can both set the strategy and work directly with developers.
Technology Strategy & Roadmap
* Define and maintain technology vision and architecture roadmap.
* Align tech priorities with business goals, regulatory demands, and investor milestones.
* Lead key “build vs buy” decisions and oversee partner/vendor selection.
Architecture & Platform Oversight
* Assess current systems (including a Salesforce-centric core stack) and design a scalable, secure target architecture.
* Ensure the platform can support multi-channel growth (D2C, RIA, Family Office, B2B2C).
* Own security, data and integration frameworks end-to-end.
Development Team Assessment & Optimisation
* Evaluate current team structure, skills and ways of working.
* Recommend the go-forward org design (roles, hiring, outsourcing, leadership model).
* Raise the bar on delivery speed, code quality and agile practices.
Product & Technology Alignment
* Integrate the product roadmap with realistic technology execution.
* Prioritise releases and ensure delivery meets commercial and regulatory objectives.
Strategic & Investor Support
* Partner with the CEO and leadership team on overall company strategy.
* Represent technology in investor meetings and board sessions, giving credible, detailed answers.
* Provide technical input for due diligence and fundraising materials.
Security, Risk & Compliance
* Review current security posture and define a regulatory-compliant roadmap across UK/US/CH.
* Prepare for institutional-grade certifications (e.g. SOC 2, ISO 27001) and audits.
About you
* Senior engineering leader (VP/CTO-level) with experience in crypto, digital assets or fintech.
* Proven track record building and scaling platforms, not just maintaining them.
* Comfortable being hands-on with the codebase and the dev team while also operating at board/investor level.
* Deep focus on security, risk, and regulatory readiness in financial services.
* Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, pace, and building the organisation as well as the product.
