Main Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for conducting outreach to disseminate information about re-entry services to the community, inmates and staff at the Somerset County Detention Center and Eastern Correction Institute. The purpose is to reduce relapse and recidivism among citizens re-entering society living with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders (CODs), and help them develop skills to build meaningful, purposeful lives in the community. During these activities, clients will be screened and referred to the proper services as needed. This position will also work with clients to address and overcome obstacles that may prohibit referral completion (service rendered). This position is emergency essential.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience in providing information on health care and disease prevention within the community.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute experience providing assistance to individuals in a health care or social services setting on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should have experience communicating effectively with clients and the general public.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
