Overview
Bath & North East Somerset Council Education Directorate seeks an Education Business Manager, reporting to the Director of Education. The post will oversee a range of statutory business functions within the local area, ensuring that finance is distributed accurately to settings and schools, and that there are sufficient places and admissions across early years and school settings. This role also oversees the Local Authority's Schools Forum and ensures effective financial partnership working with settings, schools, and colleges, as well as the finances of the council's safety valve programme. The post holder will contribute to departmental education priorities and collaborate to deliver council objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* School Finance Leadership: Oversee management and delivery of the council's responsibilities for managing the Dedicated Schools Grant, ensuring effective deployment of finance to early years settings and schools.
* Admissions and School Place Planning: Directly manage the Schools Capital Organisation Team (SCOT), ensuring sufficient school places and effective admissions management in B&NES.
* Early Years Finance and Sufficiency: Lead the team to ensure enough early years places and finance delivered to early years settings.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including management and running of the Schools Forum.
* Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Director of Education and brief elected officials on finance and sufficiency when necessary.
* Carry out additional duties to support the wider directorate to meet statutory duties and council objectives.

Qualifications
* Qualifications in finance or project management are essential
* Strong project management and risk management skills
* Awareness of Education and SEND legislation and best practice
* Degree in a relevant field
You will be employed on a B&NES permanent contract with annual leave and pension entitlement.
