Job Title: Principal Control & Instrumentation Engineer
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Filton, or Manchester (minimum 2 days on-site per fortnight). We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements; please consult with your recruiter for options.
What you’ll be doing:
* Develop functional design for the Vehicle Control solution for SSNA.
* Coordinate with stakeholders to oversee the delivery of the vehicle control solution and strategy.
* Support assurance activities in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Engineer.
* Collaborate with the engineering manager to deliver the vehicle control system, reporting progress via agile tools.
* Ensure timely delivery of engineering plans and provide guidance on engineering methods.
* Develop technical solutions with the Engineering Delivery Team, nurturing team members’ development.
* Engage with legacy stakeholders to develop solutions based on existing designs.
Your skills and experiences:
* Experience designing large-scale C&I systems meeting diverse requirements, including standards and regulations.
* Managing non-functional requirements such as EMC and shock compliance.
* Proficiency in authoring and reviewing design documents like I/O schedules and interface control documents.
* Degree in Engineering, Physics, Maths, Science, or equivalent experience.
* Understanding control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS).
* Experience with IEC 61508 – Functional Safety and supporting safety claims.
* Experience with manoeuvring systems across industries.
