Job Purpose
The Technical Product Owner – UI/UX Strategy will collaborate with product owners, technical teams, and stakeholders to enact the vision defined in the product roadmap. The role is responsible for translating strategy into a technical roadmap, designing component architecture, driving adoption, and governing design consistency for Barclays' UI strategy across multiple platforms.
Accountabilities
* Provide subject‑matter expertise to bridge product owners and technical teams.
* Support development and implementation of the product strategy and vision.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, prioritise, and communicate product requirements and features based on business value and feasibility.
* Design assessments to continuously test and improve product quality and performance.
* Monitor product performance, identify optimisation opportunities, and ensure compliance with banking performance standards.
* Stay current with industry technology trends, evaluate new approaches, and adopt them to enhance product development and delivery.
Responsibilities
* Translate strategic vision into a sequenced backlog with clear outcomes.
* Design and maintain component architecture, ensuring technical consistency and alignment with modern front‑end practices (React, Tailwind, headless patterns).
* Drive adoption of internal platform products, negotiating scope, communicating upgrade paths, and establishing governance (contribution models, review workflows, deprecation timelines).
* Lead enablement programmes—including documentation, training, and office hours—to move teams from awareness to daily usage.

Key Skills & Qualifications
* Design System Product Management: Prioritise work across the full platform stack, own the roadmap for a design system or component library, and present investment cases to senior leadership.
* Technical Fluency in Modern Front‑End Architecture: Understand theming, schema‑based generation tooling, APIs, and the impact of breaking changes on consuming teams.
* Cross‑Functional Stakeholder Management: Gather requirements, negotiate scope, and maintain governance for platform products.
* Accessibility Standards and Compliance: Familiarity with WCAG 2.2 AA and ability to embed compliance into the design system from the outset.
* AI/LLM Product Experience: Experience shaping product requirements for AI‑assisted developer tools (e.g., code generation, prompt‑to‑UI).
* Figma and Design Tooling Workflow: Ensure smooth hand‑off between designers and engineers, and keep design and implementation aligned.
Preferred Additional Skills
* Experience in a leadership or senior technical capacity, demonstrating clear leadership behaviours and the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
* Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to develop innovative solutions in a bank‑wide context.
