About the Role As an Autism Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in helping pupils with autism access learning and feel confident in their school environment. Working alongside the class teacher and SEN team, you’ll provide 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils manage routines, develop communication skills, and achieve personal and academic goals. This position is ideal for someone patient, proactive, and committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs. Responsibilities Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Implement individualised strategies to promote engagement, communication, and social development. Support sensory and emotional regulation, adapting approaches to meet each pupil’s needs. Assist with classroom activities and help pupils access the curriculum. Work closely with teaching staff and therapists to follow Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Support with personal care tasks when required, maintaining dignity and respect. Qualifications Previous experience supporting pupils with autism or additional needs in an educational or care setting. Understanding of autism support techniques, sensory needs, and communication strategies. Ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils and staff. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour and learning support. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection principles.
