PSR Rail Team are currently recruiting for a Senior Fire Systems Engineer to work full time in Central London. Fire Systems Design Engineer - Role Overview This role focuses on leading the end-to-end design and construction coordination of Fire Suppression, Hydrant, and Dry/Wet Riser Services, especially in large-scale infrastructure projects (Rail, Highways, Power). The position blends deep technical design with project management, compliance, and stakeholder engagement. ✅ Key Responsibilities Breakdown Design Leadership & Compliance Lead fire system designs (Suppression, Hydrant, Riser). Ensure compliance with: BS9990 - Non-automatic fire-fighting systems in buildings BS EN 12845 - Automatic sprinkler systems Design verification and reviews of third-party MEP consultant work. Focus on constructability, maintainability, and compliance. Interface & Documentation Develop Fire Alarm Cause & Effects documents. Coordinate third-party interfaces (e.g., alarms, BMS, suppression, etc.). Work with BRE Global or similar accreditation bodies. Project & Stakeholder Management Collaborate with Engineering Managers to resolve integration issues. Drive standardisation, cost savings (value engineering), and innovation. Support during tender, procurement, and construction phases. Line Management & Governance Staff development and ensuring completion of mandatory training. Promote H&S practices using tools like Notify. Uphold information security and quality systems. Person Specification Qualifications (Essential) Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or similar). LPCB Basic Sprinkler Design Certificate. Membership in: Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), or similar. Encouraged: Registration with Engineering Council (EngTech, IEng, or CEng). Technical Knowledge & Skills Extensive Fire Systems design (active passive). Advanced CAD/BIM capabilities for fire systems. Deep familiarity with industry codes/standards. Analytical, solution-driven approach. Experience Required Full lifecycle experience (tender → design → install → certification). Specific focus on Rail sector projects.
