Job Title: Product Owner (2 positions - Snr/Jnr))

Job Type: Permanent Full Time

Location:Exeter

Salary: £26,000-£50,000 based on experience

Holiday: 20 days p.a., rising 1 day per year up to 25.

Circumstances: Permanent right to work in the UK and able to commute to Exeter offices.

We are looking to build our Product Owner team to support the development of our existing software platforms including new and exciting projects in rare diseases and pathology management. You will be working closely with our development team delivering against the platform's roadmaps across the continuum of product ownership.

About you

The ideal candidate(s) will possess outstanding communication skills and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail. We are looking for articulate, organised, and customer-focussed individuals with an ability to excel in a team setting. Experience of leading teams or multi-faceted projects, supplemented by an understanding of Scrum methodology and Agile development would be an advantage. A strong academic foundation in STEM (biological sciences preferred) and an aptitude in computing is required.

Job Description

Main Purpose of the job:

As a product owner you will be the primary point of contact for Certus’ platforms and customers, overseeing all communications and delivery of application enhancements. Internally, you will be responsible for working with the development team to design, prioritise and and deliver the platform roadmap, in alignment with both the company and customer requirements.

Main Duties and Accountabilities:

* Validate new features against acceptance criteria with the development team, providing clear feedback and scheduling deployments to live applications.
* Work with customers and company directors through meetings, in-person workshops and online forums to understand requirements, articulating these as user stories and acceptance criteria.
* Lead/Contribute to developing the platform vision as a product backlog, using an understanding of stakeholder pressures, user feedback, and company strategy to prioritise feature development.
* Manage customer support and enhancement requests, triage responses, investigate problems and work with the development team to meet service level requirements for product support.
* Working within Scrum methodology, lead and/or collaborate to build Sprints according to developer strengths, the platform backlog, and independent customer development requests.
* Lead/Attend meetings and presentations with current and potential customers to communicate platform and bespoke customer developments, demonstrate new feature releases, create guidance documentation, and manage responses to bug reports.

Person Specification:

Attainment/Qualifications

Essential:BSc degree or equivalent qualification in a product management, software, maths, science or engineering discipline.

Desirable:MSc/Phd degree in a field with significant data analytics focus. Scrum Product Owner certification.

Prior Experience

Essential:Experience/Demonstrations of managing projects or leadership during education.

Desirable:Experience/Demonstrations of using project management and Scrum in industry placement or direct industry employment.Demonstrable ability to understand team capabilities to set expectations, guide and deliver against agreed outcomes.

Technical Skills and Understanding

Essential:

Desirable:Knowledge of Scrum methodology and Agile development.

Delivering Results

Essential:Ability to focus and deliver specific outcomes in appropriate timescales.

Desirable:Focuses effort on priority tasks and activities to achieve maximum results.

Progress multiple activities simultaneously.

Essential:Talks and listens to customers to clarify their real needs and expectations

Desirable:Ability to quickly build good customer relationships and understand customer motivations and nuances

Essential:Adopts ideas used successfully elsewhere. Generates innovative ideas and solutions.

Desirable:The ability to respond & adapt to changing circumstances and to manage, solve problems and provide solutions to constantly improve processes and systems.

Communication

Essential:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:Conveys and presents complex information in plain language.
