CSM2, a specialist equipment manufacturer supplying maritime atmosphere control systems and support services has an exciting opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer. As Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) you will be responsible for managing the quality aspects of materials and services provided by external suppliers. The role involves implementing quality assurance processes, conducting audits, and collaborating with suppliers to address quality issues. SQEs work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, and engineering, to ensure that the components and materials sourced meet the companys quality standards and regulatory requirements. This position is vital for maintaining the integrity of the supply chain and ensuring that end products meet the high standards expected by customers and stakeholders The role will require extensive travel within the UK, therefore whilst the role holder will report to the Head of Supply chain based at our Portsmouth site it is possible the role could be filled by an individual that has a home base in the North of the UK to facilitate travel. Key Responsibilities: 1. Supplier Quality Management: -Develop and implement supplier quality management systems and processes. -Establish and maintain quality standards and specifications for suppliers. 2. Supplier Evaluation and Selection: -Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service criteria. -Conduct audits and assessments of supplier facilities and processes. 3. Quality Audits and Inspections: -Perform regular quality audits and inspections of supplier facilities and products. -Identify and document non-conformances and work with suppliers to implement corrective actions. 4. Supplier Development: -Collaborate with suppliers to improve their quality performance and meet quality standards. -Provide technical support and training to suppliers as needed. 5. Quality Metrics and Reporting: -Track and analyse supplier quality metrics, such as defect rates and on-time delivery performance. -Prepare and present quality reports to management and other stakeholders. 6. Collaboration and Communication: -Work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, engineering, and production. -Communicate quality requirements and expectations to suppliers and internal stakeholders. 7. Continuous Improvement: -Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in supplier quality and implement changes as needed. -Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in supplier quality management. Requirements Education : Degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. Equivalent Apprenticeship Qualifications will be considered Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in supplier quality engineering or a related role. Skills: Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9102). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in quality tools and software (e.g., Minitab, SAP QM). Certifications Quality Certifications: AS9100, ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or other relevant quality certifications are preferred. Proven experience working in the defence sector is essential, and across Defence regulatory requirements and standards - DEFSTAN, DEFCON, QASOR, Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Advanced understanding of quality assurance methodologies and practices. Familiarity with quality management systems and standards. Proven experience in conducting supplier audits and assessments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software Able to read and understand 3D Models, DWF, Step Files and PDFs Strong communication and negotiation skills. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and related quality standards in producing ITPs, MITPs and QCPs. Travel Requirements: The duties of this appointment relate to the UK managing and visiting key suppliers and will be required to travel, estimated around 60/40% travel vs office based. Other requirements: Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to the Security Check level or be able to obtain this level. To gain SC clearance will normally require a candidate to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
