Neway International are seeking three SEND Caseworkers to join our client based with Liverpool City Council. Location: Conleach Road, Liverpool, L24 0TY Hours: 35 hours per week Start Date: 09/03/2026 Duration: 12 weeks (Cover for absent employees) Work Pattern: Approximately 2 days per week on site Pay Rate: £30.42 PAYE / £40.88 Umbrella About the Client Liverpool City Council’s Children & Young People’s Services – Education division supports children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the city. The SEND Service works closely with schools, families, and multi‑agency partners to ensure statutory responsibilities are met and that children receive the support they need to achieve positive outcomes. The Role The SEND Caseworker will coordinate the statutory assessment process for children and young people with SEND, ensuring compliance with statutory timescales and delivering a child‑centred, multi‑agency approach. The role involves supporting schools, settings, and families through the graduated approach, managing Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans from assessment to review, and ensuring high‑quality outcomes for vulnerable pupils. Key Responsibilities Support schools, settings, and families in applying the graduated approach to meeting SEND needs. Coordinate the statutory assessment process for children and young people with SEND. Manage the full EHC planning process from assessment through to placement and review. Ensure all statutory timescales are met in relation to EHC plan development. Build strong working relationships with SENCos, headteachers, and partner agencies. Work collaboratively with SENISS, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychology, Social Care, Health, and other services. Attend annual reviews for vulnerable pupils, including Looked After Children and those at risk of exclusion. Ensure children and young people are supported to attend maintained settings within Liverpool wherever possible. Maintain a child‑centred approach, ensuring families are fully involved in planning and review processes. Candidate Requirements Essential: Recent experience within an educational or Children’s Services environment, ideally as a SEND Caseworker. Strong working knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated SEND legislation, including SENDIST regulations. Experience facilitating review meetings effectively. Proven ability to work in partnership with multi‑agency teams. Experience working directly with parents and carers. High‑level written and verbal communication skills. Extensive IT skills, including Microsoft Office, complex spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations. Ability to manage caseloads and meet statutory deadlines.
