Overview
We are looking for an experienced event manager to act as National Trust Cymru's coordinator for the 2027 Eisteddfod yr Urdd, Europe’s largest youth festival, which will take place at Tredegar House in May 2027. Fluency in Welsh is essential. Internally, this position is known as Project Officer.
Responsibilities
* Lead the smooth and safe operational running of the set-up, delivery and de-rig of the festival.
* Coordinate National Trust resources required for the festival and act as the main National Trust contact during the event.
* Work with property colleagues and the Specialist Delivery Team to develop a full understanding of the property, its services and utilities, and the significance of the site.
* Ensure that all National Trust policies and health and safety processes are followed and recorded accurately.
* Support effective communication to the National Trust team, stakeholders and supporters, and assist tenants on the property with their understanding and engagement with the event.
* Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to develop fundraising opportunities during the event and help ensure a high-quality visitor experience for an estimated 90,000 visitors over the week.
* Work with staff and volunteers to build confidence in using and celebrating the Welsh language.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience in the events management sector with experience of leading and motivating others.
* Experience of relevant health and safety procedures and undertaking risk assessments.
* Effective communicator, able to build good working relationships.
* Good at listening, building trust and delivering a high-quality service to colleagues.
* Attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to work at pace and meet deadlines.
* A champion of inclusion, helping everyone feel welcome.
* Welsh language fluency is essential.
* Role is full-time and fixed term until July 2027; may involve working with vulnerable groups and requires an enhanced DBS check.
