Development Lead (PHP)Location: Hybrid (Wakefield office, once a week)Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 + bonus opportunitiesAre you ready to become a trusted technical voice for clients and a driving force within a talented web team? My client are looking for a Team Leader (PHP) to join their growing consultancy. You’ll guide technical decisions, champion best practices, and help them to deliver exceptional solutions across a wide range of bespoke web applications.What You’ll Do:
* Lead client meetings and calls with clarity, confidence, and technical insight
* Deeply understand client systems, recommending performance and reliability improvements
* Stay hands-on with development work (JavaScript, PHP, React)
* Contribute to presales, scope technical solutions, and shape proposals
* Collaborate with project managers to prioritise and deliver effectively
* Mentor and support your team with code reviews, 1:1s, and career guidance
* Drive high standards in code quality, maintainability, and performance
* Use your dedicated L&D time to explore emerging tech (e.g., AI, cloud tools)
What You’ll Bring
* Strong web development experience with JavaScript, PHP, and React
* Proven ability to assess and improve large-scale, business-critical applications
* Excellent client communication and stakeholder management skills
* Experience leading or mentoring developers in a technical team
* Commitment to clean, high-performing code
* Skilled in Git, Agile and/or Waterfall workflows
* Excellent problem-solving, planning, and communication skills
Nice to have:
* Experience in a software consultancy environment
* Familiarity with cloud services, especially AWS
