Role responsibilities

1. Develop strategic business cases in conjunction with the Senior Strategy Manager and other strategic planning roles within the organisations, by taking direction from the strategic objectives to provide clear decision check points for the organisation as part of strategic governance.
2. Be the main interface by developing constructive relationships with BAU colleagues to ensure that information presented in business cases is validated and factually based.
3. Support the development of strategic business cases by analysing and utilising the available data relating to maintenance, maintenance locations, timetabling, rolling stock performance, rolling stock capacity and passenger demand to ensure that all business cases are factually based and appropriately validated.
4. Be the main interface with project leads, by developing constructive relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure that hat project delivery aligns with strategic business case.
5. Become an industry subject matter expert, through market research and market engagement including attending industry forums and user groups, to ensure that TFW is able to make informed decisions about future rolling stock matters.
6. Working with the Senior Strategy Manager, be the custodian of the overarching strategy governance process, by supporting the implementation and integration of a robust governance process to ensure that change control of the overarching rolling stock strategy is in place.
7. Be a point of contact with TfW / TfWRL Procurement department and the wider supply chain, through face to face and online meetings and other networking opportunities, to ensure procurement activities are aligned to appropriate regulations.

Who we’re looking for

8. Be degree qualification in Engineering, Business Management, Project Management or similar, or have equivalent experience.
9. Ability to think strategically and influence senior leaders.
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
11. Previous experience in and understanding of rolling stock operations.
12. Experience of Commercially Management.
13. Understanding of financial budgets.
14. Awareness of Procurement regulations
15. Leadership and team management.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
