To support the Production Lead in day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and safe running of the department.This role is partly responsible for ensuring safety performance and quality standards are met and adhered to, the safety of the team, and to drive a proactive EHS culture focused on zero harm.This is a high hazardous position and will require 90% of your time “on the tools” and 10% managing in the absence of the Production Lead.**The role:**As a Deputy Production Lead, you will help drive our goals by:* Working with the Production Lead, ensure all safe systems of work are understood and complied with by the team, including adherence to Life Saving Policies, Management of Change, issuing permits and the control of contractors, and that effective checks and controls are in place and maintained.* Working with the team, ensure they understand EHS responsibilities, supporting, coaching and involving team members in implementing EHS improvements.* Supervising Operators on an assigned shift or area to ensure the manufacture of products or to perform other routine tasks, and some non-routine tasks within established timing, quality and cost standards.* In the absence of the Production Lead may be the most senior person at a site (outside of standard day time working hours) for EHS emergency response responsibilities* Understanding safe operating conditions of the plant, key department hazards and control measures to mitigate these hazards.**Key skills that will help you succeed in this role****:*** Experience of undertaking Health & Safety Risk Assessment* Good understanding of Hazardous Signage and Chemical Reaction Hazards* Understanding of the requirements of quality standards e.g. ISO9001, ISO14001, TS14969* Experience of working with performance metrics to drive continuous improvement* Extensive knowledge and understanding of operator skills and processes**WORK ENVIRONMENT**This role is located on a COMAH site within a hazardous chemical manufacturing environment, and experience of working in the department and its knowledge of its processes is expected.The work environment is mainly shop floor based and will need to frequently visit all production areas.
