Overview
Are you an Occupational Therapist wanting to work creatively to support people to overcome challenges and experience the life-changing power of Occupational Therapy? Are you passionate about person-centred care and team working to support people to live their best lives at home, at work, and in daily environments? This Learning Disabilities Occupational Therapy Band 5 position offers a supportive, multidisciplinary role within Dorset HealthCare.
As an integrated health and social care team, you will be based in our Bournemouth office, near Ensbury Park, with the majority of workload in community settings across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP). The clients on your caseload will have a Learning Disability (LD) and may include those with multiple disabilities, complex communication difficulties, sensory needs, and behaviours that challenge. We offer full induction, regular supervision, and ongoing in-service training to support you to develop in these areas. This is a challenging but rewarding role and no two days are ever the same.

* Assess, treat and monitor progress of the person with LD’s occupational therapy treatment goals, considering holistic needs and any relevant environmental factors using an occupational therapy framework.
* Ensure all communication with people with learning disabilities is in an appropriate format and, wherever possible, their occupational therapy plan and information is in a visual format.
Qualifications and Requirements
* No experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities is needed, but a desire to work with this client group and a knowledge and understanding of their needs is important.
* This is a part-time post of 28 hours per week, but applications from candidates wishing to work fewer hours would be considered.
* Ability to work in people’s homes and community settings as part of an integrated team.
