Position: Assistant Gas Engineer
Salary: £30000 p/annum
Location: Based in Tiverton/Exeter
Hours: Full-time, 42.5 hours p/week.
We're currently recruiting for a Mains & Services Assistant Engineer to join a busy and growing team working on gas network installations.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, varied position supporting Mains & Services Gas Engineers across a wide range of domestic and commercial projects. Work includes installing pipework, supporting underground vessel installations, and working across new housing developments and caravan parks.
You will be involved in:
* Assisting with installation of gas pipework to domestic properties
* Working with various specialist equipment for trenchless pipe installation (training provided)
* Digging pits manually (ground conditions permitting) and completing reinstatement
* Supporting underground vessel installations (working alongside excavator teams)
* Testing and commissioning pipework
* Working on new build sites (open trench) and commercial installations
This is an outdoor role in a physically demanding environment, working in all weather conditions.

* Support Mains & Services Engineers in daily operations
* Ensure high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
* Deliver excellent customer service when working on-site
* Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork
* Follow company quality procedures and safe working practices
* Use tools and equipment in line with best practice
* Contribute to operational efficiency and team performance
Skills & Experience Required
* Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
* SHEA Gas (Desired, but not essential)
* Qualifications in Fresh Air Breathing Apparatus and Abrasive Wheels (Desired, but not essential)
* NPORS (or similar) Forward Tipping Dumper (Desired, but not essential)
* Strong work ethic and willingness to work in a physically demanding role
* Good awareness of health & safety practices
